Distance vs. Displacement
Distance:
the length of the actual path traveles by an object.
Displacement:
the linear or angular distance in a given direction between a body or point and a reference position.
An everyday example:
The distance from home to school is 5 miles the displacement is that you started at home and ended at school.
The distance from the doggys nose
to the bowl is 9 centimeters (cm).
